James 3:2 Says We’re All Wrong
“For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.” (James 3:2, NASB)
It’s true; the Bible says you’re wrong. Then it says there is only one who is right and that one can wield the whole body. Because of this, and since there are waves and boats about to crash everywhere spiritually, it is doubtful the perfect one is here yet. That means philosophers, professors, and pastors have something wrong as well.
This blog category is dedicated to where I got things wrong and realized I needed to change my view. As such, I hope others will also reflect on Scripture and specifically ask God where they got things wrong. For me, there are many points of correction, and the results were astounding.
This led me to think of this as a challenge for myself but also for others. First, I’ll share some of the things I got completely wrong. Then I will share how I clawed my way through the wall of understanding to see it differently.
Here is the James 3:2 Challenge:
Scripture says we should test ourselves and James 3:2 says all of us are false teachers who teach. I have accepted this challenge and changed my view on _______. What I used to believe is ________, but now I think _________. The reason I changed my mind was ________.
Now, I am challenging you to find something you have wrong and share what that is and how you arrived at a new understanding. This could be something you had wrong before and have since corrected or it can be something new. When you share, be sure to challenge someone else, especially teachers, professors, and philosophers.
Goal:
The goal of this project is to help us all realize we have something on which we can improve. None of us have everything right. If we claim to know all truth, we are not being honest with ourselves or others. Life is a journey, just like understanding the world according to God’s will. If we take the Bible seriously, we cannot ignore where James 3:2 says you’re wrong, just like it says I am wrong.
